Brass Soap Dishes & Dispensers

Wall-mounted soap dispensers and soap dishes in solid brass, in 28 finishes — from Polished Chrome and Polished Nickel through Satin Brass, Antique Brass and Unlacquered Brass to Matte Black.

Dispenser or dish?

A soap dispenser suits a shared or family bathroom, where liquid soap stays cleaner and a bar tends to go soft. A soap dish suits a powder room or a shower, and creates no packaging. Plenty of bathrooms use both — a dispenser at the basin for handwashing and a dish in the shower.

Wall-mounted or vanity top

Wall-mounted models free up the deck around the sink, usually the scarcest space in the room, and stop soap pooling on the counter. Vanity top models sit on the counter and need no drilling, so they suit tiled walls you would rather not cut.

Several designs include a glass dish for the soap, and some use acrylic inlay alongside the brass.

Choosing a finish that lasts near water

Polished Chrome, Satin Chrome, Polished Nickel and Satin Nickel are the most forgiving around constant splashing and show the least hard-water spotting once wiped. Polished Brass and Satin Brass are lacquered, so they hold their color. Oil Rubbed Bronze, Venetian Bronze and Matte Black hide water marks best.

Unlacquered Brass is a living finish with no protective coating. It darkens and mottles with use, fastest around a pump — the appeal for some people and a nuisance for others, so it is worth deciding which you are before choosing it.

Solid brass, not plated

A soap holder lives in the wettest few square feet of the house and gets handled with wet, soapy hands several times a day. Plated steel lifts and spots where the plating is thin, and plastic chalks and yellows. These are solid brass, hand-finished in Virginia and backed by a lifetime warranty.
